Grilled Cheese Dogs
1/14/2024
Ingredients for one sandwich:
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- Two slices white bread
- One slice mild cheddar cheese
- One slice pepperjack cheese
- Shredded cheese mix
- One hot dog
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Steps:
- Wait for the hot dog to defrost, and score it
- Flip the hot dog over and butterfly cut it, ensuring it doesn't fully split in half
- Put some vegetable oil into a skillet, and heat on medium-high until slightly smoking
- Once smoking, cook hotdog until properly seared on both sides (usually about 2-3 minutes per side)
- Turn off heat once crisp, put hot dog onto the side, and cover
- Microwave butter for 5 seconds, to slightly liquify it
- Take two slices of bread, and evenly spread butter on one side per each slice
- Flip over one of the buttered bread slices, and place one of your cheese slices onto the non-buttered side.
- Take the hot dog and cut it width-wise, being careful to preserve the earlier butterfly cut. Take each half, and place them onto the bread/cheese stack side by side
- Place the other cheese slice on top of the hot dog, and then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
- Place the other bread slice on top to form a sandwich, buttered side facing up.
- Reheat skillet, then place the sandwich onto it. Wait about 1-2 minutes until bottom is golden brown, occasionally checking the bottom
- Take two spatulas and flip the sandwich over and do the same for the other side. Once both sides are golden brown, it's ready!
